$12,500,000 Settlement – Negligent Security

Shiver Hamilton Campbell successfully resolved a wrongful death case arising out of the tragic shooting of a young man after thieves broke into his car parked in an Atlanta apartment complex deck.

Criminals casually walked into the parking deck undiscovered because the apartment complex failed to repair entrance gates designed to prevent unauthorized entry into the parking deck. Shiver Hamilton Campbell obtained video footage that proved the gates were malfunctioning. In addition, our team of investigators learned there were dozens of deaths and criminal incidents occurring at the complex and in the parking deck.

Attorneys for the apartment complex and its insurance companies, who had litigated against Shiver Hamilton Campbell previously, requested to discuss settlement before Shiver Hamilton Campbell filed a lawsuit. At mediation, the case was resolved before Shiver Hamilton Campbell had to file a lawsuit.

The man who died had a young son. Though it does not replace the loss of his father, the settlement will provide financial security so that the young man can go to school and have financial support throughout his life.
